A little info on me...

Hi there! My name is Andrea Galvin. Thanks for visiting my design portfolio. I am a visual designer based out of the Portland-Metro area in Oregon.

I graduated from The Art Institute of Portland and graduated with a bachelors of science in Graphic Design in 2007. Since graduation I’ve had many wonderful opportunities working for a variety companies and organizations, of all sizes, giving me exposure to many different styles of working and unique experiences.

I firmly believe visual design goes way beyond just making things look good. It's all about getting to know your client, understanding their business, their audience, their goals, and diving into what makes their brand unique. Then, it's about taking all of that and finding clever ways to solve complex problems while keeping the solution simple, beautiful, and meaningful, telling a story along the way.

I am a passionate designer. I care about delivering quality design that is accessible to everyone. Let’s see how we can partner on your next project.

(Currently not taking on most additional freelance work at this time. Contact me if you have an amazing opportunity though…and we can talk. ;)

Character Nuggets

If you’re curious about some of the personal things I love and care about, feel free to read on.

  • As someone who has lived with invisible disabilities throughout my life and is part of a neurodiverse family, I cannot emphasize enough the significance of prioritizing mental health, fostering inclusivity for people of all abilities, and continually expanding our capacity for compassion and empathy towards others.

  • LGBTQIA rights and fair treatment hold a special place in my heart. While I'm in a heterosexual marriage, I personally identify as bisexual, and I'm also a parent to a transgender child. My unwavering belief lies in fostering love and acceptance within the LGBTQIA community.

  • I possess a deep-rooted sense of justice, which has been shaped by my life experience and has illuminated the inequalities and injustices within our society. I firmly believe that it is our duty to champion what is right: equality, peace, fairness, and the restoration of justice to those who are oppressed.

  • Family is everything, isn’t it? I’m lucky to have such wonderful people in my life who love me and support me. I married my high school sweetheart and we have been married for 18 years. We have two amazing kiddos, ages 7 and 13. They keep us busy, but we are better people for having them in our lives.

  • I was born and raised in the coastal mountains of the Pacific NW. My childhood was spent running barefoot through the forest. This upbringing fostered a profound connection to the land and nature that continues to resonate with me. Escaping the city and immersing myself in the outdoors is my ultimate source of restoration, and I hold a special love and expertise in the flora, fauna, and ecosystems native to Oregon.

  • I have a deep affection for animals of every variety. It's as if there's a natural connection, a sense of communication that transcends words. My current animal companions include a diverse menagerie: a beloved dog, a cherished cat, two adorable rabbits, a friendly crested gecko, a lazy bearded dragon, a colorful beta, and a small school of fish.

  • Probably my favorite pastime is creating art or doing crafts. I think I have supplies for just about everything imaginable. My current obsession has been making needle felted animals, plants and characters.

  • I have a passion for all things related to my Scandinavian heritage, particularly Norway. This connection to my roots has fostered a strong attachment to gnomes. Whether it's attending Renaissance Faires, dressing up in elaborate costumes, indulging in storytelling, or embarking on travel adventures, I wholeheartedly embrace these experiences. As a redheaded lefty, I find that every aspect of this unique and colorful journey resonates with my spirit.
